Mathieu Van Criekingen is a geographer, lecturer and researcher at Université libre de Bruxelles, where he coordinates the 4cities-UNICA Euromaster in Urban Studies program. His work is centred in particular on the contemporary transformations of inner city working-class neighbourhoods, addressed from the point of view of relations of social domination and alliances/conflicts among urban players. He has published among others several articles on the mechanisms and consequences of gentrification.
